    Rogers Communications Spam

    by  • 1/29/2012 • spam • 1 Comment

I have apparently been added to some email list in Rogers Communications, likely because some customer gave them the wrong email address, and it’s ending up sending their crap to me. Clicking on the “unsubscribe” link in the email takes me to what Rogers considers an adequate form for unsubscribing. Note the required fields for […]

I have a spam comment – let me show you it.

I wrote a post that listed 10-12 songs that appeared in a film, and I received an excellent spam comment that I couldn’t just delete. It has absolutely nothing to do with the post I wrote, other than being about something music-related. No Beatles song, no Simon and Garfunkle, and not talking about favorite songs. […]

While I was flagging a couple spam messages in my gmail account today, I happened to actually see part of the image as it was spamifying the message. However, I thought I saw something that couldn’t possibly be true, and I actually hit the UNDO button to bring the spam back to my inbox. Sure […]

I’ve won a million dollars; again.

I entered a phone number I didn’t recognize into Google and hit search, as I tend to do when I get a phone call from an area code I don’t recognize. My call came from 519-660-8031, which seems to be well represented online, mostly telling variations of the same tale. Sometimes when you pick up […]

Spot the irony in the spam

I’ve reformatted the following spam “job advertisement” for clarity, and I have highlighted some of the bits I find most entertaining. We are at search and selection of both experienced, highly qualified employees, and young, creative and perspective specialists [1] in marketing. We clearly realize that the success of our company are our employees, and […]

    by  • 5/20/2006 • geek, life, spam • 0 Comments

Wow… this is a first for me; a phishing email that claims to be meant to allow people to AVOID phishing schemes. RBC Financial Group always looks forward for the high security of our clients. Some customers have been receiving an email claiming to be from RBC Financial Group advising them to follow a link […]

I just recieved one of the more offensive spam attempts that I’ve seen in some time, this time targeting people desperate to emigrate to the United States. The full text of the scam email I recieved is quoted below, but to summarize they’re looking for US$355 for processing fees, which must be paid directly to […]

    Most amusingly bizarre spam….

    by  • 10/23/2005 • humor, spam • 1 Comment

I’m so sad that I missed out on this… what with the October 15th cut off… I mean, I could be an “Act” in the induction, casting and making of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”. I wonder what the “deposit” that’s required for the Fed-Ex package will be; I think I’ll send them an email and see if I can still “apply”….
