THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS – I thought maybe Will Smith had given up on acting, but this worked out pretty well. Sure, it’s a conservative fairy tale biography about a man who pulled himself up by his own bootstraps without any help from anyone! Except all the people who helped him, the shelters that housed him, and the rental places he never paid for and the people who gave him the benefit of the doubt and hired him. Other than that, NOBODY helped him. Nothing really challenging, but it’s not unenjoyable, especially since this isn’t Will Smith being The Fresh Prince like he seems to be in most of his films.
