THE GREAT DICTATOR – This is the first Charlie Chaplin feature I’ve seen, and it’s his big fascist comedy and it’s not a silent film. It’s a bit of an unwitting ‘Prince and the Pauper’ as the Jewish barber accidentally takes the place of the fascist dictator with the tiny little moustache. With one moving speech, the accidental dictator begins to set things right.
