DAYBREAKERS – Interesting approach to vampires, and it explores how unsustainable a world full of vampires would be. They’re running out of blood, and the vampires are starting to change into base, unthinking creatures. Vampirism in this world was caused by some sort of plague that came from a bat, and in ten years, they’ve converted or eaten nearly all the remaining humans. Whoops.
With maybe only a month worth of blood left in the world, the big blood pharmacy decides it’s about time to start researching for a substitute in earnest. No pressure at all. Vampire chimps and vampire troops were used for testing the blood substitute…. with surprisingly poor results.
Oh…. THERE’S your problem…. I said use DISTILLED water for the experiments, not HOLY water as the base for your testing…
Once he becomes human again, Ethan Hawke apparently also turns into Han Solo – black vest, white shirt, crossbow… I can’t be the only one who thought this.
THE BIG LEBOWSKI – I’m never sure if Coen Brothers films from the 80s and 90s like this and RAISING ARIZONA are genius or sheer, dumb luck. John Goodman is fantastic, and steals every scene he’s in with Jeff Bridges.
“No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there’s nothing to be afraid of.”
