THE CALL OF CTHULHU (Netflix) – A modern, silent, B&W, no-budget film of the Lovecraft mythos. I don’t think I’ve seen a fan-made film that was as good as this. I suppose there’s something to be said for having amateur actors who don’t have to speak

KILLERS (Netflix) – Funny, but not really all that good. What would I expect for an Ashton Kutcher film, though? It’s like there was the germ of a good idea there – assassin falls in love, settles down, and is surrounded by sleeper agents ready to kill him at a moment’s notice. The “big twist” just makes the rest of the film feel like a waste of time. That said, Katherine Heigl was really quite good in this film for all its badness.
