After The Apocalypse, Sleuth, November (293/163)

AFTER THE APOCALYPSE (iTunes) – Don’t let the fact that this is an experimental, black and white, effectively silent film stand in the say of watching this if you get the chance. It’s about five survivors of some unspecified disaster.
SLEUTH (Netflix) – Despite the phone calls and the end scene, I almost want to question the existence of The Wife completely. It almost feels as if these two are playing parts from start to finish in a years-long improve – two mad men, OMEGA MAN style, alone in the world.
NOVEMBER (Netflix) – Descent into madness? Parallel realities? Whatever is happening, Courtney Cox is lacking focus literally and figuratively in this low budget experimental film. I didn’t really see the point of the newspaper headline “Is Modernism Dead” until the second time it appears in the film… I like the point about what you choose to leave out of the photograph is at least as important as what you leave in. I don’t agree with the majority of the reviewers that make up the horrible rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The ending may be a bit obvious, but it’s a fitting way to wrap up this story.

You’ve made me think of Sleuth in a whole new way… I might have to re-watch, looking for clues as to whether there really is a Wife or not…
The final scene has a car driving up, and I don’t recall seeing the driver, but I’m assuming that’s the Wife. I have a feeling I’m alone in this No Wife theory, but these two come across as so absolutely crazy that this wouldn’t be much of a stretch.
