SOMEWHERE (Carlton) – A fascinating study in boredom, without becoming a boring movie. Johnny Marco seems to have everything, but he’s unable to take pleasure in anything. He doesn’t seem to have any tangible interests or hobbies, and those things that he does do seem to be part of a role he’s playing. The closest he comes seems to be with his daughter, Cleo. He’s still distant, but there’s something that appears more real there.
Elle Fanning is really quite good in this film; especially the silent bit at breakfast in Italy where there’s an entire unspoken discussion about the intruder.
