I’ve tried to avoid responding to the claims this guy is making on a friend’s facebook wall, but this guy (not my friend) is saying the nuttiest things. I’m not sharing the names of the Kook, or where you can find this, but I wanted to share the content to this point. I really think that the only thing that I can do is walk away and ignore him, honestly.

It bugs me that people buy this shit from Mercola and Alex Jones and Jay Gordon and Age of Autism without even a thought that they might be being lied to by those brave crusaders against big pharma. I correct small things, and six more horribly bad assertions are made in a Gish Gallop fashion. Mercury as a CARRIER for vaccines? I’m going to hazard a guess that this guy doesn’t even know what an adjuvant IS.

I think that the site that Kook mentions “Institute of Science In Society” is trying to play on the name of a REAL organization called “Institute for Science and Society.” One is connected to the University of Nottingham and the EU and NHS… the other has a logo that looks like the one that played prominently in the TV Show Heroes. One has a proper web page, the other looks like it was thrown together by people who thought Geocities made pages that looked boring.

See if you can spot the Kook’s cited reference page:

    Institute for Science and Society
The Institute of Science in Society (Compare to that Heroes graphic)

Anyhow, my comments are in italics.

    Kook:

Of course the swine flu exists – there are bajillions of species of virus out there…it’s when you look at the staggeringly insane discrepancy in numbers – garden variety flu takes out about 30 thou North American’s per year, where with H1N1, globally, if I recall my numbers right, it was maybe about 100. Of those numbers, were a small number of young people. Even the mainstream media have been carrying news about the ineffectiveness and downright danger of the shots – which contain mercury as a carrier. As for Jones – his message is very basic-“people are fucking you over. Wake the fuck up.” Kook? Hey, ‘The Man’, read rich and powerful, have been fucking over the peons since Sumerian times.

Anyone remember ‘Legionaire’s disease?’ Hranta virus? Or this: when I was a kid, flu season meant whatever flu I hadn’t been exposed to, I’d get. There was never any talk of mutation-because there wasn’t any flu shots to force the virus to mutate. It’s called creating a market. If you’re in the gig of treating the sick, the more sick people you have, the more money.

    Me:

The flu has strains, or ‘mutations’ that come and go; that happened before the vaccines too; we just didn’t know about it.

“CDC estimated 63,000-153,000 2009 H1N1-related hospitalizations occurred between April and October 17, 2009. The mid-level in this range was about 98,000 H1N1-related hospitalizations.

CDC estimated that between about 2,500 and 6,000 2009 H1N1-related deaths occurred between April and October 17, 2009. The mid-level in this range was about 3,900 2009 H1N1-related deaths.”

    Not “maybe about 100”

    Him:

Likely true – except for one leetle thing – just wasn’t much flu back then. Of course, back then, mothers breast fed, and the generally blendered the family meal. Pablum’s been known to fuck up an infant, but good. And anyways, mainstream media carried the news lines, which a little research demonstrated was true-pharma were using mercury as a vaccine carrier. Mercury, directly injected, is bloody well toxic. As an aside – did you know Salk’s vaccine failed? Killed a few people, too. He had to get help. Wound up doing the weakened strain trip. Also, read again – antibiotics put an environmental stress on virii – which then mutate. Interestingly, if the body successfully fights a virus off, that virus rarely, if ever, can mutate into anything that will harm. There are exceptions, of course.

The theory is, antibiotics are reaching their limit, and pharma doesn’t give a half a crap about you or I. They care about the bottom line, which is ye olde dollar. And I’m only about a half a conspiracy theorist-the rich and powerful have been fucking us gently with a crowbar for longer than the Catholic Church-those guys are freakin’ teenagers. Also that new findings about bacteria are actually going to go a long way towards helping with the limitations of antibiotics. We’ll likely see, in the future, a combination of bacterial therapy and antibiotic therapy. About Charles and Bill-doesn’t matter what took them down – what matters is they were pig monsters are far as drug abuse, and still made it a long way. We’re not being lied to, it’s just that certain assumptions science has made, are being turned over.

    Me:

?@Kook: You’re talking crap… antibiotics don’t do a damned thing to viruses. We have very few anti-virals.

Also, mercury has never been used as a “carrier.” Ethyl mercury, which the body can process (as opposed to methyl mercury which sits in your body forever), was used in multi-dose vials as a preservative. The body actually processes and expels the ethyl mercury in a short time; it’s like the difference between ethyl and methyl alcohol – methyl alcohol makes you go blind, but ethyl alcohol gives you beer goggles.

    Him:

No, Richard, I am not. The carrier is known as Thimerosal-an adjuvant and preservative that is 50 times more toxic than mercury itself. From the Institute of Science in society, I’ll paraphrase: it can cause long term immune, neurological, motor and behavioural dysfunctions. As well, it’s linked to autism, it can cause ADHD, MS, and speech and language deficiencies. Particularly in children, a target group. Pharmaceutical companies are not required to perform product testing. Also used as a carrier is aluminum hydroxide, which can cause anaphylaxis, macrophage myofascitis, which is a chronic imflammation. And more – alum gives cats fibrosarcomas at the site of injection (remember all those reports of pain, swelling, inflammation at the injection site?). There’s still more, a bit of a list of some of the newer adjuvants, which apparently have even higher systemic toxicity than alum. And there’s a bunch of links, and they aint Alex Jones crapola – they’re from a variety of quiet sober concerns.

As for anti-virals, viruses are anaeorobic – not only not requiring oxygen, but rather fragile under higher concentrations of oxygen. As well, some interesting research in asia, using ultrasound to breakdown soft tissue cancers, some of which are caused by viruses. But hey, big pharma don’t want you to know that, cause hey, who will buy their product then? I’m thinking that there are actually vital new, and awesome things happening in the science of medicine – and that the backlash against the vaccine, from those receiving it, did have an impact on pharma. Big change in the wind, and good stuff comin’.

    Me:

Hate to break it to you, but the “Institute of Science in Society” appears to be about as reliable as Mercola and Prison Planet from the handful of pieces I looked at on their front page.

    Thimerisal isn’t more toxic than mercury – the body can process. It’s also NOT a causative agent in autism, as case after case and study after study show. A good summary is available here;

    http://sciencebasedpharmacy.wordpress.com/2010/09/13/more-evidence-that-mercury-in-vaccines-doesnt-cause-autism/#more-2709

What would change your mind that vaccines work and aren’t a conspiracy to kill the poor? Nothing?
