About thirty seconds after we got in the door this afternoon, the power went off. That was at 5:45om, and we were promised that all would be well in three hours without a problem.
There’s really nothing to do until they deploy the slightly trained monkeys they keep on staff. They are deployed to stand around and ook at the problem between banana breaks and poo flinging.
Seriously. Nova Scotia Power gives new meaning to the word incompetent except when it comes to coming up with excuses. The PR department treats every new outage as a way to practice creative writing skills. They announce that salt fog has eaten through wires pretty regularly and have even blamed The Gays by claiming that balloons from the pride parade shorted out a transformer.
We have been lucky this past year as we have weathered some crazy storms with hurricane force winds and some pretty insane freezing rain coating everything, and through those we kept power. When it gets nice out though, down goes the power. – almost like the workers are planning when they want to work outside.
It was about ten o’clock and I decided to call their outage line to find out if they have any updates. The woman promised that everything should be up again by midnight. Hell.
A minute later, while we are trying to decide if we should walk the dog or wait for the power to maybe return in a couple hours, the power clicks back on.
Apparently I have some sort of control over thr power in this city. If you don’t want to lose power again, Halifax, you will send one million dollars to the following addres…
