Stable of Seahorses

Four variations of a work in progress on a seahorse design for use on banners, stickers, etc, for binarysoul.ca. I kind of like them grouped like that, in a … school… herd… of related but unique creatures. The outline (the one on the right) needs to be thickened up a bit under the chin and around the tail. I might also simplify the back a bit further, emphasizing the spikes and fin a bit more distinctly.
Things to do: beef up the outline, move some of the detailing on the light-blue chest to the dark blue path, and simplify the light-blue overall – especially down the back of the tail. I’m pretty happy with the head, especially the dark-blue version. I might reduces the light blue in the head… not sure yet; see how I feel about it tomorrow.
Why did I never work with vectors before? Oh right, expensive software packages from Adobe or Corel… Thank you, Inkscape for showing me the power of vectors at a price (free) that I can really appreciate. Now if only I could work with CMYK separations properly in the gimp, I’d never use Photoshop for designing for printing again…
