American Laundromat (http://www.alr-music.com/shop.php) is a record company that I’ve picked up a couple good albums from; there are albums full of Pixies, Kim Deal and Neil Young tributes; there are also upcoming Cure and Repo Man albums. A CD tribute to Repo Man; I can hardly wait.
I’m not as wild about the Neil Young one, but then I’ve never been a huge Young fan. I also have a copy of the first volume of Songs For Film & TV and some vinyl. What can I say? They had a big drunken combo sale that I couldn’t turn down. “Well it happens every year! We get drunk (really drunk) and then offer ridiculous bundle pack prices exclusively to our newsletter subscribers & mail order customers. Technically, this year, it’s a hangover sale. We came up with the bundle packs last night but were way too drunk to create paypal links.”
I just received a press release from the label as they’re putting together another compilation of songs that could play on radio or tv; they use it as a way to market the label and the artists to those in the industry trying to license songs for their shows. They want unreleased, already recorded and mixed songs; so go sit in the studio for a bit, people.

American Laundromat Records is an indie label based out of Southeastern, CT. Founded in April of 2004 the label is best known for releasing popular tribute compilations. High School Reunion – a tribute to those great 80′s films featured indie-rockers Matthew Sweet, Frank Black, Dresden Dolls and others covering beloved tunes from some of the 80′s most popular teen films. All Music Guide called the project “One of the finest tributes ever amassed” and went on to say “let this serve as a blueprint for all future tribute sets”. American Laundromat’s most recent tribute Cinnamon Girl – Women Artists Cover Neil Young For Charity features Tanya Donelly, Kristin Hersh, Veruca Salt, The Watson Twins, Lori McKenna, Britta Phillips, Josie Cotton, Jill Sobule and more covering Neil Young’s early work (1969-1979). All proceeds from the project are donated to charity and critics have called the double-CD “a superb collection of Young’s work”, “the tribute album Neil Young has deserved for most of his long and prolific career”, and “an absolute must-have companion piece for fans of Young’s catalog.”
