• Our Dog Was Obviously with The Axis

The weather was nice, and there was a nice layer of snow on the grass for Sera the Canine Snowfiend, so we took the dog with us on a small series of errands. Library, bead place, bank mostly. Just a dozen blocks there and then back again. The dog would get to leap through virgin snow fields, dreaming that she was a jackrabbit.

I stopped off at the library to pick up a book that I had requested. I left Sera with The Other Human so that they could run around putting paw and foot prints everywhere there was unmolested snow cover. When I returned with book in hand I was introduced to the Dog’s New Neurosis by a giggling Nico.

The dog was hopping merrily along, only to be surprised by a 10 foot tall, 1.5 ton bronze statue of Winston Churchill. Not one to sneak up on unsuspecting dogs, this unmoving statue. Sniff sniff, bounce bounce, run, sniff, bounce. HOLY FUCK! THERE IT IS AGAIN! Biggest damned human she’s ever seen. Pretty much the same incredulous reaction she had to horses when she first encountered them; stop dead in her tracks, ears up, staring like aliens are in the process of landing right there in front of her snout.

Below you can see a side by side comparison of the statue as it exists in the park (albeit from a summer shot with leaves in the background) along with an artist’s interpretation of what Sera may have actually seen today.

Maybe our dog is just sensitive to the true faces of our Reptilian Overlords. Nah, she’s likely just a bit touched.
