What ‘No Child Left Behind’ should mean

DNA Detectives didn’t have a single donation after having been submitted on Nov. 7, but I was sold when I read it. This is a proposal that I would have LOVED in biology when I was in High School. Of course, I really enjoyed anything where you had to get your hands dirty or play with acids or electricity in any way at all.

I have found that my students can better grasp complex biological concepts when they can be visualized through lab activities, modeling or simulations. The supplies to perform gel electrophoresis would provide students with the opportunity to visualize the process of DNA fingerprinting. This concept can not be adequately explained through paper and pencil alone. It needs to be seen!

My students would greatly benefit from gel electrophoresis equipment, including gel boxes, a power source, and pipettes. These lab supplies will allow the students to perform DNA fingerprinting. This is a topic that must be understood for the AP biology and the HSA biology exams. Adding this technique to the portfolio of lab skills they possess will make these students more prepared for the challenges of college level science classes.

I’ve added this proposal and a couple others to my registry at donorschoose.org, so that you can help make American kids less science-dumb. Do we even allow this sort of direct funding action in Canada?

Help Public School Kids by Funding my Registry at DonorsChoose – I’m pretty much exclusively listing experiment related biology, physics, and chemistry projects.
