I hate discussions on the internet about social issues. Someone posts a thinly veiled left wing propaganda piece about a pseudo-anarchic organization in Vancouver; the Anti-Poverty Coalition. This is typically followed by bipolar opinions by everyone. There’s always a representative of each extreme end of the spectrum who speak up quickly and voluminously about how everyone else is wrong and here’s why.

Then there’s the reasonable people who see in shades other than black and white; who can see options outside the binary system of yes/no.

There are the METOOS!, who post merely a vote of confidence in one player or another, contributing to the signal:noise ration on the side of static.

Another type you’ll see pop up on any discussion that lasts any length are the confused. They state their thoughts in unbroken blocks of text that are riddled with ellipses and empty sentiments along the lines of

well you are entitled to any outlook on the world you please…i’m not arguing with you…just glad i don’t think that way…

which translates in my mind to “Fuck you, you’re wrong, but I’m going to be passive aggressive about it, and waffle around about maybe this is good or maybe that is good…I don’t know…maybe things are different now… ”

Whatever your point is, or how soft it is, please at least try to insert some horizontal white space in order to not instill murderous rage in your audience.
