My request to the movers

I sent the following, via email to the rep from Bekins Moving and Storage in Vancouver. Is it crazy of me to prefer email over the phone at this point? I mean, who knows what sort of things could be promised on the phone and I’d have no way to prove it?
I do apologize regarding my inability to be contacted; I have been trying to get budget information and trying to arrange other facilities in order to ease the burden on myself and on everyone else involved. As well, email is strictly the easiest way to get ahold of me with the time difference being 4 hours, and my work schedule being rather unorthodox.
I am seeking to enter into a payment arrangement of some sort, with the terms as yet to be decided. I have run my budget through all sorts of gymnastics, and with other expenses that occured as part of this move, an added ~$5000 is a hard hurdle to accomodate. There are a number of items that would speed the repayment along considerably;
1. We agree to split the difference on the total between what was ‘quoted’ over the phone and the final weighed amount.
2. That we can be provided access to Hoyt’s warehouse to pull certain “saleable” items that can be sold and used to pay for the remaining items. The loading sheets simply list “carton” and “filler” so we’d have to likely visit the storage facility in person.
3. That you can provide me with a hardcopy or PDF copy of the full invoiced amount that we agree to; this will allow me to submit for partial repayment from my new company.
4. A monthly payment in the form of a cheque, likely paid on the 15th of the month. At this point, the budget looks bleak, but $500 is the reliable amount I can promise, with larger payments possible depending on your acceptance of items 2 and 3.
Thank you.
I don’t think that these are unreasonable requests; I’m willing to accept a higher bill, but just how much higher is the point…
