Join the ranks of horror’s elite film makers; shoot and edit your own horror classic in a mere 48 hours, and see it on the big screen a week later; just like making a film for Troma…

FILMS SCREEN AT THE CINEMUERTE FILM FESTIVAL OCT 28 & 31 at 5pmAs hundreds of DV filmmakers the world over have already learned, making a short film in one weekend can be terrifying. Lack of sleep is just the beginning of your problems when you are trying to corral actors into repeating their performance with more energy at 5 in the morning and you know you have only got another 6 hours to get a final edit of your masterpiece put together. Well, start brewing your coffee now! There will be celebrity judges, fabulous prizes, and more fake blood than Sam Raimi can make shoot out of the wall in an abandoned cabin somewhere in Tennessee. Assemble your team and click here to reserve your spot starting September 10th!
Teams will meet at 7:00 PM on Friday, October 21st at the SIDEBAR in Bosman’s Hotel at 1060 Howe Street. There, each team will be given a different horror subgenre and be told the prop, line of dialogue and character name to be used in your film. 48 hours later, check back in at the same place with your completed film.
Screenings will be on October 28th and 31st at the CineMuerte Film Festival. Films will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges, and prizes will be awarded to best film, best actor/actress and more.
There’s not too many rules, the big one is no production is to begin until after 7:00 PM on Friday, Oct. 21. The point of the challenge is to complete all of the creative process of producing a short film within the 48 hours.
