One last Marqui

I’ve pretty much run out of ways to talk about Marqui. I’m just not a potential customer, and I find it to be a bit more work to use their product than it would be to hire someone to maintain the company web site for me. There are a number of interesting things that can happen in the timed triggering of events and such, but it just doesn’t push it over the edge of usefulness in my books.
Maybe I fear the Frontpage Syndrome that happens when you build a system that any idiot can use; where only idiots would be interested in using it. Marqui is simple enough to be a problem to the non-technical over time, and as an IT person, I fear my marketing staff having access to a CMS like this one. It gives them the ability to shoot themselves in the foot; with a Howitzer, and I would dread the inevitable calls I would get from the VP of Marketing to take that press release off the site that he didn’t sign off on….
I suppose it’s hard to create a CMS that fixes procedural and human problems in an existing business, and maybe my own little informal case study needs more basic help than this CMS can deliver.
Update: I really need to learn to hit ‘PUBLISH’ and not ‘SAVE’ when I’m having to resort to using the web interface for updating around here. PUBLISH means it gets put on the front page, and SAVE means it doesn’t. Changed the status to published on May 10, 2005
