Root canals and job interviews

I didn’t try to ace an interview this morning, but somehow managed to. I showed up in jeans and a tshirt; they were both black and clean though. Wearing scuffed up Doc Martins, and carrying a coffee cup and a backup with punk patches all over it and still got the contract; in a government shop where everyone’s wearing button up shirts and khakis. I need to try even less hard next time.
I guess it’s different in that I’m a contractor, and I will be there to do some pretty specific things that they’ve been having a bit of an issue hiring for. I’ve also managed to pull a pretty decent rate on the gig, and they’re totally flexible about the days of work, so much so that they’ll fit right around my other odd contract.
The really odd part is that, while I was pretty sure that I had the contract when I left the office, I found out the results from someone who had no idea I was in there today. As it turns out, the girlfriend of someone that I used to work with works at the site and recognized me. The guy I worked with was telling me that I had impressed the interviewer and it sounded like I got the job; as the contracting company was telling me that I just needed to come in and sign some forms.
