angst, music

Apathy kicks me into neutral

I was going to head out to see the yearly showing by The Reverend Horton Heat (hears a who?), but since I don’t have tickets to this sold-out show, I’d have to rely on additional tickets being released in addition to a relatively short lineup for tickets. I could also likely grab tickets from a scalper once the show starts for a fraction of the face value, but it’s just too much like work. I like the band well enough, but something about paying $30+ for a ticket isn’t thrilling me, plus it’s a relatively early door of 8:00pm so I’m running well behind on getting there in time to score tickets. I’ll just play their music here.

There’s a stack of other events tonight, with D.O.A. playing with The Lancasters down at The Astoria Hotel (The Asbalt), along with a Japanese band that has had to cancel their US tour. Apparently you need a visa to enter the US to play metal; go figure. Another band on the bill there is named “Borderguards” which is amusing to no end.

Maybe I’ll have to get there just to see Nightmare… One review, some images, and of course there’s a LiveJournal Community for them. The LJ community lists interests such as “fanfic” which frightens me.

Or it’s THIS Nightmare which strikes me as a bit less entertaining…. Searching Google for words like “nightmare” and “metal” just doesn’t help much… Ah well, whoever they are, they go on at 8:45, so I’m thinking that’s where I’m headed….

Update: Okay, so I’m apparently going down to the venue for RHH, and will see on tickets. Worst case, I hop a bus to the other venue in time for the Japanese take on punk rock / metal.
