They’ve tried for years to put out a believable April Fools joke…
- Man Sells Baby to Pay for Gadgets
- IT: RFC On New Internet Routing Protocol (routing based on morality)
- Say ‘Cheese’ to Google Satellite at 10AM
- Britannica Takes Over the Wikimedia Foundation
- Linux: Paris Hilton Recruited to Publicize Linux
The RFC is the latest in a long line of geeky technical papers that cover absurd subjects, and Slashdot is merely pointing to it. Their other content is simply lame. The wikipedia story is amusing only because they point to a wiki page that is open for changes, and of course it’s getting silly.
The thing about April Fools in my books is that simply being funny isn’t enough; it’s about the practical joke, where you convince someone that a lie is the truth. You know, sort of like what George W Bush has been doing to the Americans for the past 4 years; one big April Fools…
