Okay guys....I usually don't post here unless I have reasons...but I feel I need to speak my mind on this..
I am not gay or bi, but I do respect and encourage those who are exploring their sexual preferences.
A
friend of mine pointed me out to a blog of a young man, who recently
came out to the public to his parents about being gay, and in turn, his
parents enrolled him in some kind of camp that, uses religious beliefs
and whatnot to 'break' this 'sinful' habit.
You can find the link for his blog right here.
In his blog, he's also posted regulated rules and guidelines from the C.O.C. (chain of command)
The website for this "camp" is http://asafeplace.org
My
opinion: While I am not religious in any way, I feel that this is
borderline concentration camp style! I find it absolutely appaling that
a place like this even exists. If I am not mistaken, this goes against
a few human right policies. You can't 'de-gay' someone, and using
religion as a means to guilt trip someone into being straight is
outright morally degrading.
I feel sorry for this kid any any
other kid who is going thru this stage of their life. For them to have
their own loved parents shun and fear them because of a lifestyle
change is...outright horrible! I know that there are parents like that
out here in B.C. and stuff, but....I've not heard of anything SO
extreme...
This is just my shortened opinion...it pisses me off!
